Licence Activation
Online activation
If your instance can reach the internet, this is the fastest path:
- Open the licence pane in the Data Orchester UI.
- Paste the activation code you received after purchase.
- The instance contacts the Amtiri portal, which verifies your subscription and returns a signed lease. The instance verifies that signature itself before applying it — nothing is trusted blindly.
- The instance then checks in periodically to renew its lease automatically. You don't need to do anything else; as long as the instance can reach the portal from time to time, the licence stays current on its own.
Offline activation
For air-gapped installs with no network path to the portal at all:
- From the licence pane, generate a DO Identifier — a small file that identifies your instance without exposing any secret.
- Send that file to Amtiri through your usual purchasing channel.
- Amtiri returns a licence file (or a short, typable key, for installs with no removable media) signed against your instance's identifier specifically — it cannot be applied to any other install.
- Apply the returned file (or type in the short key) from the licence pane.
What the states mean day to day
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Unlicensed | Community limits apply. The engine keeps running; only a periodic restart timer nudges you toward activating. |
| Active | Full entitlement for your edition. |
| Grace | Your lease has lapsed but you're inside the grace window — everything keeps working while you sort out renewal. |
| Expired | Existing configuration keeps running unchanged (it never de-energises a live process), but new changes are blocked until you renew. |
